Student Organizations Focused on Empathy

UCLA offers a wide range of student organizations that allow students to explore various disciplines, including student government, academics, leadership, spirituality, club sports, and community service. Artistic Activism Coalition
The Artistic Activism Coalition at UCLA educates and mobilizes the community on social justice and activism through art, providing a safe space for students to discuss and learn about various social issues. The organization is inclusive, encouraging passionate creators and advocates to use visual and performing arts to raise awareness and foster empathy. Collaborating with like-minded campus organizations, they aim to equip members with resources and training, particularly through the Center for Artistic Activism, to bridge art and activism effectively.

Chapter Compassion
Chapter Compassion connects volunteers with individuals in assisted living facilities, hospice care, homeless shelters, nursing homes, and medical centers, providing non-professional support and fostering empathy in medicine through scheduled virtual or in-person visits, while offering volunteers exposure to clinical settings.

Music Mends Minds Student Organization
Music Mends Minds Student Organization at UCLA supports Music Mends Minds Inc., a nonprofit creating musical support groups for individuals with neurological disorders. The organization provides UCLA students with opportunities to interact with seniors, use their musical talents, and build empathy for those with neurodegenerative diseases, aiming to uplift patients through musical engagements.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) aims to combat mental health stigma and advocate for those affected within Los Angeles and the UCLA community. NAMI provides a safe, inclusive platform for support, fostering empathy and encouraging individuals to seek help. Wired for Empathy (WE) is a non-profit connecting underserved elderly homes with UCLA students to share their diverse knowledge and passions, aiming to combat social isolation and improve residents' well-being through meaningful interactions and learning experiences.
